As with all new major hotels or restaurants it is important to test facilities and prove concept with real guests in advance of opening. Naturally we have had a number of test weekends, primarily to re-assure ourselves that kids and teens feel at home in the environment we have created at Schloss Leizen and also to test sport, catering and safety facilities and procedures.
For one of our summer test weekends last year we thought we’d take the opportunity of inviting Robert Sommer the 2016 winner of the Royal Society of Biology “photographer of the year” competition to capture a day at Germany for Kids. It was great experience for adults and youngsters to have such a talented photographer with us for the weekend and to witness his enthusiasm for photography and the subject.
During the weekend Robert was careful to snap as many aspects of Germany For Kids as was possible, including our state-of-the-art sports facilities (soccer pitch, beach volleyball court & climbing frame), bedrooms, our kitchen and the food it produces, the Schloss and grounds plus, of course images of kids making new friends and having fun.
Hamburg resident Robert hails from Röbel a picturesque and historical small town, just 9km from Schloss Leizen. Still in love with the beauty of our area he returns often to capture stunning images of the town and the lake upon which it sits, the Müritz, Germany’s largest.
